Is your business listed online? Have you checked?
A lot of business owners will be surprised at how much they are hard to find online, especially those that have existed for quite a while. Today, there is a lot of net use by your potential audience or customers and your business should definitely be among the listings they encounter online.
For example, I had to go take care of a payment with moneygram so I drove to the nearby Walmart down my street. Keep in mind, this was during the Christmas Holidays so as I enter the store, the line to the business center was extended all the way to the entrance of the store itself. There was no way I was going to stand in line for hours waiting to send a payment, so I took to my smart phone and simply typed in “moneygram” on my Google Places app. The app located the nearest store that processed moneygram orders around where I was at. I drove there, took care of my payment instantly and all was complete.
If that store was not listed on Google’s directory, they would’ve never had myself as a customer.
Stories like that is why online listings are important for your business. A good place to check if your business is listed is Getlisted.org.
The purpose of that site is to give you a set of popular online search engines where you can check to see if your business is already listed locally, otherwise you can register and have it listed. Some of the things they ask for when getting listed is business name, business or mailing address, and website. If you ever need a website, you know who to contact, but it’s just as important to get listed as well!
